FAQ

Spectel does not offer any type of TV programming. Our mission is to equip new homes, or homes in the building or renovation process, with network wiring for numeric, cable or satellite television, as well as for home theater, data processing, Internet, telephone, security and much more...

In short, we provide a network distribution system that enables the management of all telecommunications without having to deal with a tangle of wires.

A wireless network is ideally the better option for a home that cannot be wired adequately. However, this system will never be able to offer the same security that a wired network could. One must also be careful in configuring the remote access. Too many people are installing this type of network without taking into consideration what it can expose their computers to, including their files, passwords, etc.

Usually a good wireless network is the extension of a wired network. Among other things, it can serve the laptop on the terrace outside during those warm summer days.

It would not be a serious endeavor right here to give out the prices for the different items that make up a home network.

However, one must realize this type of labor is governed by a construction contractor license and that it requires material resources as well as manpower which, of course, must be paid for, just like any plumber, electrician or carpenter.

Moreover, the work greatly resembles that of a certified electrician and many among them offer this type of service, though they are not as highly specialized as we are.

In addition, we deem that for a good working, basic network, the cost should not exceed 1.5% of the total value of your home and it is our mission to implement one for you at the best price.

In the residential sector, our undertaking is done in 2 or 3 phases depending on the nature of the project.

The first step is done at the same moment you require your electrician. Like him, we must first pre-wire your home. This step can last for one or two days depending on the length of the project.

In the second stage, we will install the different connectors and will conduct a first battery of tests in order to ensure that each cable is in good condition before closing the walls.

In the third stage, simply give us a call at the last coating, when you have done the painting so that we may close the wall plates, do a second battery of tests and proceed to the jack identification.

With the exception of the affected cable, your network will keep on functioning as usual!

It must be understood that we install a star-based topology that is recognized in the EIA/TIA standards.

This is to say that each of the devices or computers is connected to a central hub via a single cable. Thus, if one cable goes down, the rest of the network will not be adversely affected, unless of course the cable comes from the service provider...

The rest of the network will therefore remain fully functional while you give us a service call to have the affected circuit repaired.

In the residential sector, unfortunately, in view of the vast diversity of homes, we cannot evaluate a project and make an adequate estimation without having seen it first hand.

Be that as it may, we give free estimates everywhere in the Montreal area and we will be more than happy to offer any advice you may need.

So why not take advantage?
